Young people in Breyten, Mpumalanga, are keen to improve their lives and fight unemployment.  In 2015, the youth began planning an initiative to improve the computer literacy in their community through purchasing a container to start up a job centre and approached Planact for advice on the endeavour.

This prompted Planact to implement the community development programme in Breyten to ensure that young people have access to resources and are afforded a voice in the development of their community. The main objective of the programme is to capacitate the youth of Breyten in articulating their constitutional rights participatory processes within their community. This will encourage more active engagement in decisions that could improve their livelihoods

The community development programme will empower the youth through leadership training, organisational development and public speaking so that they are able to represent themselves in their engagement at Integrated Development Planning (IDPs) level and also to understand and interpret the Social and Labour Plan (SLP). . It is envisaged that the work done will contribute to influencing the institutional system.
