Planact has hosted its 2nd discussion forum to roll out findings from preliminary interviews and social mapping in the corridors of freedom (CoF).

The preliminary findings, show that:

  • Consensus was that the Corridors of Freedom is a good initiative.
  • A number of efforts had been made to consult the community on the project, but these have been perceived as tick-box sessions
  • The feeling from some community members were that no proper transport and social studies were done.
  • Resulting in both negative and positive consequences for the community (business, residential and services)
  • Community is willing to participate in a general forum for engagement

The forum, comprising of community development organisations, resident associations and general public transport users, is a platform for public participation in the CoF. Planact promotes the effective involvement of communities and stakeholders in the Governing the Future City – Corridors of Freedom (CoF) project. Planact believes that active participation of stakeholders in the project will bring significant economic and environmental benefits.
