Planact, together with the Wattville Ward Councillor Sibiya are currently putting together a precinct plan which will guide future development and ultimately integrate municipal service in one area.

The project’s Terms of Reference require the Precinct Plan to inform and coordinate the development and upgrading of the Wattville Public Service Node in Ekurhuleni.

The main aim of the Wattville Precinct Plan is to integrate a range of municipal services and other complementary amenities such as shops, business premises, police station, day-care centre, community hall, clinic and a park, so they can be easily accessed under one roof by the public.

This development will also contribute to the recent efforts to make the public space more attractive, comfortable and shaping a sense of place, with particular reference to Dube Street. The precinct plan will be buttressed with fundamental principles of landscape and environmental urban design to promote sustainability. Interviews of the end-users are also critical to ensure that they project serves the needs, not only of the services providers, but of the population concerned.
