On the 29th of March 2012 Planact hosted a learning event focusing on Participatory Budgeting(PB). The aim of the workshop was to explore PB in a South African context with a particular focus on Planact’s partnership with GIZ and the Makhado Local Municipality in piloting PB in Makhado, Limpopo. Rigorous debates around how best to implement PB in South Africa were had, yet many attendees agreed that PB could serve as an effective tool to enhance participatory democracy.
