Last week, Planact was invited to accompany a group of international students and lecturers to Cosmo City, in Johannesburg for a site visit as part of the Global Suburbanism Research Project in Canada.

Planact has been working with Cosmo City since its Zevenfontein roots and it was a good platform to share experiences with the students and the  community. The main intention of the project is to share ideas and document the nature of global suburbanism in Africa.

Prof Mabion contacted the students  who were convened at the Cosmo City Multipurpose Centre after having toured the Johannesburg Inner city, Rosebank, Sandton, Waterfall (Midrand), Fourways, Steyn City, and Diepsloot, where they began to engage with Phasha Mgagane, former chairperson of the Cosmo City Development Forum (CCDF), as well as the current ward councillor for the area.
