At Planact, we recognise that effective communication is an important part of how we engage with communities, stakeholders and partners and communicate the impact of our work.

As part of our commitment to staff growth and continuous learning, the Planact team participated in a Storytelling and Public Speaking workshop facilitated by Mimi Kalinda.

The training explored the role of storytelling and public speaking in communicating ideas, evidence and experiences in a clear, confident and compelling way. It also highlighted the importance of understanding audiences and stakeholders, navigating difficult conversations, and connecting evidence with lived experiences.

A key lesson from the session was the importance of “Inform. Shift. Mobilise.”  Effective communication is not only about sharing information; it is about helping people understand an issue, creating meaningful connections and making the purpose and desired action clear.

For Planact, strengthening these skills contributes to how we engage with stakeholders, share community experiences, communicate evidence and tell stories that reflect the realities and impact of our work. Investing in our people therefore strengthens both individual capacity and the organisation’s ability to communicate its work and contribute to meaningful change in communities.
