Passion alone is not enough to succeed in the construction industry.
This video shows how Planact, in partnership with the Built Environment Clinic (BEC), provides support for emerging contractors and developers who enter the construction industry with passion and inadequate knowledge about compliance and technical knowledge and skills.
The May 2026 Emerging Contractors and Developers Training was the third-round of training that Planact organised for emerging entrepreneurs in the construction sector. The purpose of the training was to provide skills development and information on everything that contractors need to know about the construction industry.
Facilitated by Dr. Amanda Filtane, a lecturer from the University of Cape Town with extensive industry experience, the five-day intense training is a condensed version of 7 academic Degrees in Construction. It equips participants with the essential knowledge needed to navigate the construction industry.
Throughout the training, participants covered:
- The Construction Industry
- Business Administration & Management
- Branding & Management
- Finance Management
- Construction Science
- SHEQ Management
- Personal Development
The training concluded with participants receiving certificates of attendance, recognising their commitment to strengthening their knowledge and growing their businesses within the construction industry while also forming networks amongst themselves.
